If you’re interested in preventing cavities, you have probably already heard the importance of oral hygiene and regular dental visits. These things are vital in keeping tooth decay at bay. Fortunately, there are also anti-cavity foods you can consume to help in the prevention process. Our dentist, Dr. Eudoro Vallejo, is happy to tell you about those foods, which are:
– Dairy products: Dairy products are known to increase your pH levels, increase your intake of calcium, and trigger saliva flow. Calcium helps strengthen the teeth while saliva helps wash the bacteria and food particles away from your smile. So, make sure to consume plenty of milk, cheese, and sugar-free yogurt!
– Apples: Apples are known to help the teeth in many ways, especially because they can clean the surfaces of the teeth and increase saliva flow. There is a saying: “An apple a day can keep the dentist away,” so don’t forget to pack an apple each day for lunch!
– Sugar-free gum: Now, we know sugar-free gum isn’t a food, so please don’t eat it. All you need to do is chew it after each meal. Doing so can help you increase your saliva production and clean your mouth. So, don’t forget to keep sugar-free gum in your bag!
